SF Quotes

" If your God is everywhere, if He is always watching, why should your people make houses to go to worship Him? Faced with an all-seeing, everywhere-being God, I would think what is needed is a place to hide. "

Tad Williams, Caliban's Hour

Conjecture 2009 PDF Print E-mail
Conjecture 2009 — 48th National Australian Science Fiction Convention — will be held in Adelaide over the Queen's Birthday Weekend, 5- 8 June 2009, at the Holiday Inn, Hindley Street, Adelaide.

The professional Guest of Honour is Jule Czerneda, a Canadian speculative fiction writer whose first science fiction novel set in the Trade Pact Universe of her own creation, was the evocatively titled A THOUSAND WORDS FOR STRANGER published by DAW Books.

The website at <http://conjecture2009.org> has been updated. Regular updates will follow, scheduled for each Tuesday.

Membership fees will be a price rise of $20 for each membership category effective from after Easter. So if you are attending Swancon 2009 which will be held in Perth during the Easter holiday weekend, then that could be your last chance to join in person. Meanwhile you can use the Paypal facility on the website to join online (click on 'Membership').

There hasn't been a natcon (short for National Australian Science Fiction Convention, of course) held in Adelaide since 1985 and twenty-four years is a long time between imbiding beverages.

There will be discussion panels, talks, short films, displays, and masquerade on Saturday night.
